Class of 2020

Product Marketing Manager at LinkedIn

San Francisco

What did you do prior to Stern?

Growth Marketing Manager at SoundCloud.

What was the best part of your internship?

I was given the chance to tackle a real project for the Product Marketing team, which allowed me to see if this was a path I wanted to take post MBA.

What was the company's culture like?

LinkedIn's culture is very warm and inclusive. The work moves at a very fast pace and people are super smart but always willing to help.

What kind of events did you get to do with your fellow interns and/or team?

LinkedIn took the interns on a trip to Lake Tahoe. We also had many events such as speaker series, happy hours, etc

What was the city like? Did you have a chance to explore? Did it affect your internship in any way?

I was able to really focus on my internship and work since I am a native New Yorker and moved to San Francisco for the summer. It was great to explore the Bay Area and other parts of California.

What was most challenging part of your internship and what would you do it again if you could?

The most challenging part was making an impact in just three months. I wouldn't do anything differently. At LinkedIn, if you are eager to learn and willing to work hard, you can find success.

What was most helpful to you during the recruiting process?

Networking! In early fall, I made a list of all companies I'd potentially like to work at. Then I actually leveraged LinkedIn and got on the phone with anyone who would speak to me and secured referrals. Before I walked into an interview, I had usually spoken to at least two people at the company.

What advice do you have for current and prospective students for their internships?

Don't limit yourself too early. I didn't think I wanted to move to California but I loved every interaction I had with LinkedIn so I applied. Living there for three months was an incredible experience and I got to immerse myself in the culture of Silicon Valley. They allowed me to convert my full-time offer to the New York office and if I hadn't taken that chance, I wouldn't have landed this role.
